This is about auctions where the cars are the most ordinary of ordinary vehicles: Ford Crown Victorias coming off six years of patrol duty with the county sheriff's department. Toyota Tercels with so much mileage that their odometers have worn off the printed numerals. Plain sedans, base model pickups and early '90s Pontiac Firebirds confiscated in drug stings. Cars you can get cheap—maybe.

eCRATER is one of the smallest online auction sites, but the seller verification policies make it very appealing, especially if you’re just getting started. The site charges no monthly subscription fees or a seller verification fee. In addition, you don't pay a final value fee on items you've sold, unless the item was sold through the main marketplace. Even then, the fee is just 2.9 percent of the sale, a significantly lower percentage than sites like eBay. With fewer upfront fees, it's easy to get started auctioning off items. However, eCRATER has some significant limitations for full-time sellers. For starters, the site only has about 65,000 users, so the total number of eyeballs you get on items is not going to compete with larger auction sites. Secondly, you can't sell and ship anywhere outside the U.S. And finally, eCRATER doesn't support HTML or other coding, and this limits your ability to customize your store to fit your brand, limiting your growth as a seller.

People were on their cellphones taking bids from afar, others were desperately eyeing the cars to see if the panels and bumper covers were in decent enough shape to make some cash at the current bidding price. Though there were only a handful of folks at this little auction, the dynamic—the subtle things people did to make sure they made a sound buying decision—was enthralling.

Online auctions offer buyers and sellers of a wide variety of goods an enormous platform for trade. They offer buyers a virtual flea market, with an endless range of merchandise from around the world, and they give sellers a storefront from which to market everything from sports memorabilia to computer systems to millions of international buyers. It includes national retailers auctioning off excess inventory or services. But how do online auctions work?
Treasury Department Auctions:  The other agency very active in holding auctions is the Treasury Department, with roughly 300 sales per year. Treasury often offers in-person previews in California, Florida, New Jersey and Texas. Treasury auctions off "property forfeited as a result of violations of federal law enforced by the Department of Treasury or nonpayment of Internal Revenue Service taxes," according to its website. There are many categories of goods, including concrete items like antiques and coins but also less tangible property like stocks and patents.
GovDeals is the official portal to government auctions, which range from land to computers to cars. The site's categories include surplus and confiscated items from various government agencies. The rules and regulations vary depending on the participating agency, and you deal directly with the agency after you are awarded your bid. The deals are great, but be sure to inquire about packaging and shipping of an item before you place your bid because most sellers do not ship, pack or palletize. You may be responsible for picking it up or paying someone to transport it.

If you run into a problem, try to work it out directly with the buyer or seller or with the auction website. If that does not work, file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission by calling toll-free 1-877-FTC-HELP (382-4357) or visiting the FTC's website. Although the Commission cannot resolve individual problems for consumers, it can act against a company if it sees a pattern of possible law violations. You also may want to contact your state Attorney General or your local consumer protection office.

As we’ve already mentioned, there are always some risks in buying at government or repo car auctions. However, you can significantly lower your risks by knowing what you’re doing, knowing about the car(s) you want, researching your pricing, and understanding how the auction process works. Auctions typically move very fast, so you should attend a few just to learn the pace and bidding techniques.

I had a friend bid with me so between me and her hopefully we won. She did and I gave her the visa number and got a confirmation receipt. Next thing on my page the same ring came up to purchase the customer didn't pay. 2nd chance winner. WTF. I have the receipt and it's on my credit card. I purchase 700.00 on 6 item's. Now it seems I was taken. I've recommended this site to everyone. I feel so awful. I haven't received anything yet. But I ordered yesterday. Thought it was all good till I got the 2nd item chance. I had my friend bid cuz I wanted it. She won. So since I was betting against her they didn't know we we're friends. Big RED FLAG. Wish I would read reviews 1st. I'm very upset and will contact my lawyer about this!! How could they be allowed to do this?

My first mentors were two auctioneers named Bobby and Ricky Munter. We called them "The Mumbling Brothers," in honor of their "HA-MA-NA! HA-MA-NA!" auction chant. Ricky gave me the opportunity to auction off a few reruns -- cars that didn't sell the first time they went through the block. Theoretically there would be less pressure for a new guy like me. Except for one thing…
Boulder, Colo., police started using PropertyRoom.com in 2007, mainly to unload property that couldn't be traced back to the owners. Before items are put up for auction, they are posted on the police department’s Web site for four weeks. Previously, the department had been stuck holding onto items for up to three years, said spokeswoman Sarah Huntley.

Car auctions are a weird and fantastic world, and in my two decades in that scene, I've seen some pretty astonishing things. The old adage that "your decisions in life dictate your future" really rings true at an auction. This business is all about split-second decisions; that can mean buying anything from a two-year-old Ferrari to a 20-year-old Buick. Whether you've just sprung for junk or pure gold, you're stuck with it. When I tell folks, "You just bought that car and whatever just fell off it," they laugh -- unless they're hearing me say it for the 200th time.

These programs are meant to benefit taxpayers as a whole, but could they benefit you, the individual taxpayer? Can you bag a bargain at a government auction? "GSA's goal is to maximize return to the federal government," the GSA spokesperson said. So they're not giving this stuff away. In fact, the government sets "reserves" or minimums for the most valuable property it auctions off. But judging from a wide tour of current government auctions and bids, there are still opportunities to walk away with valuable goods for a great price. Here's a look at who's selling what, where, and for how much.
Shpock is a “boot sale” app and is the abbreviation of ‘SHop in your POCKet’. The platform was launched by two Austrian entrepreneurs. It encourages sellers to list unwanted but ‘beautiful things’ to buyers in their local area. Shpock is easy to users, sellers simply have to upload photos of an item with a description, then watch the bids roll in. Items can either be collected in person or shipped.
Auction Ohio was founded in 1985 and conducts more than 1000 auctions every year. Sellers can list items in a broad range of auctions, ranging from real estate and antiques to office equipment and precious metals, and a whole host of other categories. Auction Ohio offers sellers the option of whether to sell their items from their own home or at an auction house. The site also handles all communications with buyers, including the collection of proceeds, which are then paid to the seller, minus commission and applicable fees.

When i opened the package, it was more than obvious than this was all bs and that stones werent real.. It just took a macro lens on top of my phones camera to see that theres not even fake rocks everywhere its supposed, instead, in some places you can find some molded metal instead of diamonds . the few fakes diamonds that are on the bracelet are not even quality fakes, and the AAA emeralds are the insult topping all the rest. But before I wrote this message, i wanted to be fair and go ask a professionnal if maybe i was wrong, but i got the answer to my question extremely fast as this item is BS all the way...... You guys waste peoples time, money and give them false expectations, and u make them feel happy until we receive the crap... Its extremely insulting and frustrating... I would like to claim a total refund and you say on top of it that you dont even pay for the shipping fees....showing that you certainly have to deal with a major percentage of your sales that are returning for the same reasons i explained here.... I can send you the macro pictures i took as a proof of the total scam it is and im very tempted to make you a beautiful video promotion review on my each of my most reaching social platforms, cause i think people needs to know how a honnest compagny you guys are.
I know better. I know that I should read reviews before I become active on an auction (or any) web site. I let myself down this time, did not read reviews, and this site is a true scam. All I can say is, DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS SITE! I agree with everything negative said in these other reviews. I indicated one star on the overall rating only because there is nothing lower.
For the past 25 years Trout Machinery, Inc. has been one of the western region’s largest and most reputable independent used medium-duty truck and used equipment dealership. Trout Machinery will be selling approximately 7 medium-duty vocational trucks, 4 forklifts, 10 trailers, 200+ lots of tires and compressors, man lifts, containers, plows, forks and buckets all work-ready. For local or county auctions, notices and listings will appear in only one local newspaper. Find out which one. Many government auctions and sales, both federal and state, are listed on the FirstGov.gov web site, run by the U.S. government. A catalog of vehicles for a particular auction will be available on the day of the auction, or a few days prior, from the auction administrator.

Payment methods. A government auction accepts many modes of payment from credit cards or bank checks to cash. It is recommended to ask the auctioneer about the modes of payment involved before the auction starts. Besides the bidding price of the car, an additional buyer's premium fee is added onto the total. This fee is normally 5 percent of the winning bid
