Car auctions are a weird and fantastic world, and in my two decades in that scene, I've seen some pretty astonishing things. The old adage that "your decisions in life dictate your future" really rings true at an auction. This business is all about split-second decisions; that can mean buying anything from a two-year-old Ferrari to a 20-year-old Buick. Whether you've just sprung for junk or pure gold, you're stuck with it. When I tell folks, "You just bought that car and whatever just fell off it," they laugh -- unless they're hearing me say it for the 200th time.

Later, I worked at the kind of place where cars that were worth more dead than alive were sold by the lowest of used-car dealers. Many of these cars would literally spill their precious remaining fluids as they rolled through the block, and at least one or two a night would die from an overheating engine and become a rolling paperweight -- right there on the block. Automotive garbage was collected by the ton at this place. Which brings me to my $25 car.

Boulder, Colo., police started using PropertyRoom.com in 2007, mainly to unload property that couldn't be traced back to the owners. Before items are put up for auction, they are posted on the police department’s Web site for four weeks. Previously, the department had been stuck holding onto items for up to three years, said spokeswoman Sarah Huntley.
Pickles Auctions is the biggest online auction company in Australia, boasting hundreds of listing in predominantly vehicle and IT equipment categories. Being a specialized auction site that deals chiefly in vehicles, Pickles Auctions provides a quality platform for the sale of a vehicle. Vendors simply need to contact their local branch for an inspection time, the site then provides them with an estimated price, and the item then gets put into the next available auction.

These days, I have become the car dealer instead of the auctioneer. This is still a tough business and every single month I lose money on something. But you know what? The willingness to "pay my tuition" and learn a few new things along the way has been far more valuable to my work than my MBA from Duke. Remember -- "If you live it, it is not a dream."
The best bargains are usually on the older less-than-perfect vehicles that dealers don’t want to spend time and money on. Dealers go for the relatively late-model higher-priced vehicles. Since dealers want to make a profit by buying low and selling high, you might be able to pick up a good car by bidding slightly higher than a dealer is willing to pay. Or bid on older vehicles that dealers don’t want.

The Proceeds of Crime Act now allows for a court to confiscate any goods that a person can not legally account for. There are many thousands of such court orders issued each year, and items that can not be returned to their legal owner are auctioned off at local auction houses all over the UK at Proceeds of Crime auctions as featured in the BBC documentary series Ill Gotten Gains. Police auctions are an established route used by regional police forces across the country to dispose of proceeds of crime, lost and found, seized, and unclaimed stolen and confiscated property.
First of all Police Auctions is NOT related in any way to real police auctions. Their name is fraudulent. Their items are 100% fake as we know now. Their 'business' will be shut down very soon, we'll make sure to contribute to that. We ordered four items including one with 19 diamonds. Upon arrival, all 19 diamonds were invisible to the human eye! Worse, we examined them under a magnifying glass, and they were crude, terrible fakes. Worse still, 5 were missing completely, with holes where the fakes had been. The items were all absolutely terrible, shoddy ripoff material, with no weight to them. The auctions are being bidded on by robots, that is now very clear. The same item get auctioned, because they are NOT the items in the photos. Their confused, deceptive policy can't sugarcoat the fraud that they are committing in selling phony bidded, bait and switch, fake material, and outright missing content items. Make sure you get a refund with all your involved institutions. Beware to all who enter.

After 2 years in business the owner of this Grabbagreen franchise location has decided to close its doors to focus on other health industry business ventures. All assets will be sold via public online auction and will include: Juicers, Blenders, Refrigeration, Under Counter Refrigeration, Convection Oven, Exhaust Hood, Food Processor, Indoor/Outdoor Tables and Chairs, Revel POS System, Smallwares and more.
Payment methods. A government auction accepts many modes of payment from credit cards or bank checks to cash. It is recommended to ask the auctioneer about the modes of payment involved before the auction starts. Besides the bidding price of the car, an additional buyer's premium fee is added onto the total. This fee is normally 5 percent of the winning bid
You must be willing to bid and lose in any kind of auction. You must also be willing to bid and win, and be prepared to pay cash or finance within the required time set by the auction company. You can apply for a pre-approved used-car loan at your bank or credit union, or at an online auto loan company such as Auto Credit Express, and be prepared in case you win a bid. Personal checks are not usually accepted, although credit cards, money orders, certified checks, and traveler’s checks are accepted.
Other types of vehicles that might be found at a government auction are “seized” or “impounded”, which means they have been confiscated by a law enforcement agency for various reasons. Some have been taken from criminals who have used the vehicles in the conduct of their crimes. Others have simply been impounded for violations of motor vehicle laws. Still others are “unclaimed” or “abandoned” by owners.
If you have items at the Property Room, you will be notified by mail when those items are available to be released.  Once you receive the letter, please proceed to the Property Room (in person) with a valid state ID, military ID or a valid passport along with the letter you received. If you reside out of state and have items to be released from the Property Room, it is recommended that you contact the Property Room at 614-645-4736 before proceeding to the Property Room to ensure you have all necessary paperwork and avoid unnecessary travel.
But the competition at county auctions is brutal and it's only getting stronger. "Taxi companies want the old cruisers to use as cabs," Lang says. "And often there are government employees who are going after a vehicle that they used on the job and grew fond of. A lot of the school buses and trucks get bought by brokers looking to ship them overseas to poorer countries that will use them for public transportation. These are guys who go to government auctions all the time, know what to pay and know a lemon when they see it. You won't be the only bargain hunter out there."
If you're looking for a sensational deal on a seized truck then look no further because going up for auction on 10/1 is this 2001 Cheverolet Silverado 1500 HD pickup truck. This 4 door beauty has got a crew cab, comes nicely equipped, and has approximately 93,917 miles. VIN: 1GCGC13U31F177036. To get full access to our website all you need to do is register with us now. Don't delay, great deals like this don't last forever!
High-end classic car auctions like the Barrett-Jackson events are common on cable channels with three-digit numbers, such as Speed and HD Theater. Perfect Shelby Cobras, Ferraris with long racing pedigrees, glorious Duesenbergs, exceedingly rare muscle cars and old Mercedes roadsters so gorgeous that your eyes water cross the block and sell for insane prices.
Ice Road Truckers wish they had it this good. No annoying Television cameras. No worries about falling into icy rivers, lakes, and oceans. And definitely no worries about Polar Bears. With this 1999 Freightliner Conventional FLD120 Tractor-Trailer, you will be hauling loads in no time. You, of course, will be sitting in the comfortable cab, piloting the 6 Cylinder Diesel Engine, while sitting comfortably in a cab supported by an Air Ride Seat, and an Air Ride Suspension. The Air conditioning will cool you down in those hot summer months, and the mudflaps at the back will ensure that people driving behind you are not left in the mud. The live auction will take place April 21st. Activate your free trial here, and find out what else

If there’s a “catch” to government car auctions, it’s that there’s competition in the bidding. If the car you want is popular and in great condition, you can expect other people, including used-car dealers, to be just as interested in it as you are. Competition and heavy bidding will drive auction prices up — sometimes beyond the real value of the vehicle. Don’t get caught up in the frenzy and overpay. Set a spending limit on each car you’re interested in.

4. You can't own the car immediately. Unlike when you're shopping for cars from private dealers, with government auction, you still have to wait for at least two weeks before you can possess what you've bought. It may even take longer if there are some problems with your requirements. Hence, it's best if you can have a car professional with you, someone who can offer you advice on the probable requirements that you may have to present.
