If you run into a problem, try to work it out directly with the buyer or seller or with the auction website. If that does not work, file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission by calling toll-free 1-877-FTC-HELP (382-4357) or visiting the FTC's website. Although the Commission cannot resolve individual problems for consumers, it can act against a company if it sees a pattern of possible law violations. You also may want to contact your state Attorney General or your local consumer protection office.

4. You can't own the car immediately. Unlike when you're shopping for cars from private dealers, with government auction, you still have to wait for at least two weeks before you can possess what you've bought. It may even take longer if there are some problems with your requirements. Hence, it's best if you can have a car professional with you, someone who can offer you advice on the probable requirements that you may have to present.

Almost every day law enforcement agencies from all across the country seize a wide range of properties that are connected to criminal activities. After the property has been used as evidence for the criminal trial and has been processed, the government will no longer need to hold this property, those properties are auctioned off to raise the money for administrative works and development. Seized auction are also resulted due to custom seizures, tax seizures and criminal seizures. For instance, when a trafficker's or drug dealer's home is raided by the government authorities, their possessions are confiscated as a result of being obtained from illegal activities. When a person doesn't pay tax as well, his/her possessions such as real estate, jewelry and cars are also confiscated and they are auctioned off to meet the outstanding tax liability. Similarly people who smuggle into the country without paying any kind of import duty or the items people are failed to prove as theirs when returned from foreign countries are also seized by the government and placed in the auctions.

Log onto PropertyRoom.com, a Web site which auctions stolen property that law enforcement agencies were unable to return to the rightful owner. The auction is run much like eBay, and its product mix is arguably just as eclectic. Thanks to the criminal mind, the inventory, unfortunately, is endless. Stereos, guitars, laptops, jewelry, bicycles and designer clothes are all available for a fraction of the original value.

Wholesale Heaven is what we call the magical place where millions of cars go to die, at least temporarily. They had bad transmissions, suspension systems that cost more to fix than the car was worth, rust, abuse, and neglect. I saw countless examples of what not to buy because of mechanical issues -- including over three hundred Chryslers with defective six-cylinder engines that would promptly go kaput right after the warranty expired.

Bidding. Get some information about the type of bidding that normally occurs at these auctions. Feel free to ask the consultant about the expected price of a particular vehicle. When the auction starts, raise your hand and registration number card high in the air so the auctioneer can see you. Bids can be in increments of $100, $250 or even $500. I, too, unfortunately did not research before starting business with these frauds. All their products appear fake and I doubt it's a real auction at all - I saw what appeared to be glitches in software. I had to have my credit card cancelled and have multiple transactions in dispute with my bank; I am going to try to dispute the shipping charges as well, as that's how I think they keep making money. Google playstore is working on removing their mobile app, as they also found some anomalies in addition to my report (which doesn't work well anyway - another red flag). Have reported them to the FTC. Will be reporting to other federal agencies, UPS, the Postmaster General, and the State of California, as that is where there merchandise is sent from, and to anybody else who will listen.

3. There's intense pressure in government auctions. If you happen to see an auction either in television or in reality, you know that it's going to be truly fast pace. You have to think quick and efficiently. If you aren't ready with this type of environment, have someone who can do the bidding for you. Otherwise, you have to start looking for a used car dealer.
